A Few of My Favorite Things – May
It’s May! While it’s been spring where I live for a few weeks, I know that some of you are just starting to get into that spring feeling.
At the end of each month, I will be putting together random things that I have been bringing me joy. These don’t follow any particular logic other than I can’t get enough of them right now.
I somehow managed to get the timing right and it is now bringing forth its spring bounty. I have enough lettuce and arugula to actually make up a bunch of salads. I’ve been enjoying these with a little smoked salmon that I picked up at Costco. This year, I even tried tomatoes which is notable because we do not get a lot of the hot weather that are typically associated with growing tomatoes.
Paleo “Instant Oatmeal”
I’ve been following a low carb diet since my blood sugar tested in the pre-diabetic range. I love oatmeal in the morning and hadn’t given that up but I may now that I’ve found this recipe. I top mine with whatever fruit I have on hand and a tablespoon of almond butter. The best thing is that I’m not starving again two hours later.
The Longevity Book by Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bark
I picked this up at my local public library and it has been a really interesting read so far. It’s all about the scientific process of how we age and what we actually can control in the process.
I just love being able to go out and enjoy the sun on our deck and not having to bring a jacket along. It doesn’t last long in San Francisco so I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.
